What’s the difference between the CALQUENCE capsules and the tablets?

CALQUENCE has changed its formulation from capsules to tablets. This important formulation is designed to allow CALQUENCE to be taken by people who also need to take stomach acid-reducing medications. The safety and effectiveness of a CALQUENCE tablet is expected to be the same as the CALQUENCE capsule. The strength and dosage will remain the same: One 100-mg tablet by mouth — with or without food — approximately every 12 hours.

Tablets and capsules should not be taken together or interchanged. Capsules are still okay to take until you run out. If you are still taking capsules, continue to avoid taking proton pump inhibitors (such as Prilosec® or Nexium®). CALQUENCE capsules should be taken 2 hours before H2-receptor blockers (such as Pepcid®). And CALQUENCE capsules should be taken either 2 hours before or 2 hours after antacids (such as Tums® or Rolaids®).
